Elon Musk is hosting an event via Twitter Spaces on Wednesday with two American politicians to discuss artificial intelligence (AI). The participants are Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, and Mike Gallagher, a Republican from Wisconsin, both of whom are members of the House of Representatives. They will have a discussion with Musk for approximately 45 minutes later in the day, focusing on the benefits and drawbacks of AI. The US Congress is considering stricter oversight of AI. Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of Twitter, has warned about the dangers of AI and has called for a pause in the development of artificial intelligence. Khanna's district includes Silicon Valley in California, where many major tech companies are located. Gallagher chairs a committee in the House of Representatives that examines the technological competition between the United States and China. He states that Musk is the most prominent voice among those calling for a pause in AI development, and it is therefore good to have a conversation about it. |
