Elon Musk plans to lay off 10% of his staff. It involves about two hundred employees. The New York Times reports on the basis of insiders. Product managers and data scientists, among others, would lose their jobs. In november, Musk laid off about 3,700 employees. That was more than half the staff at the time. One of the recently fired employees would be Martijn de Kuijper. He is the founder of the now discontinued newsletter service Revue, which was incorporated by Twitter two years ago. De Kuijper reports in a tweet that he can no longer access his mail. Musk took over Twitter last fall for 44 billion dollars (about 42 billion euros). He then decided to cut costs rigorously. According to him, this was necessary because many advertisers turned their backs on the platform. Thousands of employees had to leave. Also, stories came out that Musk did not pay some bills. Twitter, which has had to do without press officers for a while due to all the cuts, has not yet reacted to the reporting on the additional layoffs. Since Musk took control of the company, the social media company has been in chaos. Not only did Musk lay off a lot of staff, he also had a new version of the subscription service introduced that led to abuse. Musk previously warned of a possible bankruptcy of the company due to the falling sales. By now that risk would have been averted. Earlier this month, Musk said that the line up had already been deployed. |
