Walmart Pulls «Impeach 45» T-Shirts off shelves
Retail giant Walmart introduced «Impeach 45» to it’s shelves. As the message is only subtly masqueraded «Impeach Trump» it goes noticed by Trump supporters. The story managed to get to the Twitter of Ryan Fournier, the chairman of «Students for Trump» committee and erupted in an orchestrated outrage. Soon the Walmart has issued apologies and pulls the controversial shirts off the shelves.

Walmart has a long story of such «controversial controversies» behind. Due to the high throughput of the goods it can’t select every shirt based on the political context. Walmart has a standard procedure for true or fake public outrage against the merchandise - they retract it. It happened with ‘racist’ wigs, NAZI-inspired «Arbeit macht frei» shirts and many others. It is obvious that Walmart itself is not responsible for everyone’s taste.

However the story behind the «Impeach» shirts and other merchandise is fruitful as a starting point of discussion about the freedom of speech. This constitutional human right is warranted by the state, but the state is less and less in control of the implementation of it. Corporations and political committees are becoming truly in command of what to consider a free speech and what’s not.
