A tragic occasion has taken place during a Russian triathlon championship in Nizhny Novgorod.

Sportsman from Chelyabinsk died during competition in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia
Sportsman from Chelyabinsk Egor Leonov has died during Russian triathlon championship on a long distance. This competition has taken place on the 2nd of August in Nizhny Novgorod. This information is also available on official website of Russian Triathlon Federation.

The competition included 1.9 km of swimming together with 90 km of riding a bicycle and 21 km of running. Sportsman started to feel bad in the end of the running distance. Egor lost his consciousness. Other sportsmen started providing him with necessary first aid till the ambulance has arrived. Unfortunately, doctors were not able to bring him back to life. It has been officially announced that Leonov died after fighting for his life for more than an hour.

Autopsy and toxicological examination will make it possible to identify the reason of his death.
He was 26 years old.
