Russian Ministry of Finance insists on decreasing of threshold of duty-free online trading to 150 euros
Ministry of Finance has already published project of documents which are devoted to limit lowering of duty-free goods import fr om abroad which is fulfilled by transporters directly to individuals. The main idea is to decrease threshold of duty-free online trading to 150 euros with overall weight up to 10 kg.

Duty-free threshold is 1000 euros at the moment for Russian federation with overall weight up to 31 kg per month. In case the level of threshold is exceeded, additional fee will be charged. It includes 30% of the sum which exceeds the lim it. At the same time it should be not lower than 4 euros for 1 extra kg.

At first Ministry of Industry and Trading was against such decrease while discussing this project on its earlier stages. Ministers are sure that 500 euros threshold will be more than enough. Such opinion is based on experience of various European countries. This experience is the main base for working out new project. However it does not suit Russian conditions and it differs a lot. Europeans are practically not charged with additional fee. This is due to the fact that the majority of purchases are being made inside EU. That is why there is no reason for lowering threshold level for them.
