People recall victims of terroristic attack in 2004 in Beslan, Russia

10 years ago terrorists attacked school number #1 I n Beslan took more than third of all pupils as hostages. 335 people died because of that horrible event. 186 children were among them. A group of terrorists with Rasul Hachbarov in charge took 1.1 thousand pupils of school #1 including their parents and teachers as hostages while they were celebrating the Knowledge Day on the 1st of September 2004. More than 3 days they were captured by terrorists in the building of the school. Criminals let more than 20 women and children on the 2nd of September after their negotiation with ex-president of republic Ruslan Aushev. On the 3rd of September Russian Special Forces arranged an assault on terrorists and the majority of hostages have been rescued. At the same time 335 people died including 186 children. More than 800 people were injured. 31 soldiers from Special Forces died during the operation. 28 of them were killed during assault. One of the terrorists was arrested. His name was Nur-Pashi Kulayev. He was sentenced to death by Supreme Court 8 years ago in 2006. He was accused of terrorism and murder. However death penalty was forbidden in Russia during that period of time. That is why criminal was sentenced to life imprisonment. Citizens of Beslan annually give honors and bring condolences to all victims of those horrible events.
