Twitter makes the feature that allows users to ask for donations available to everyone, the company reports. It is also possible to pay with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin. For a limited number of users, the feature has been available since May. Profiles of people who have turned on the tip pot show a banknote next to the Follow button on the profile. This allows people to send a donation directly via a linked payment platform. Now the feature is phased out for all users. This will be done first on iOS, but in the coming weeks Android users will also have their turn. Users can add different payment services that allow people to donate money to their profile. These include Bandcamp, Geld App, Patreon, GoFundMe and Venmo. Users must be 18 years of age or older to enable the feature. For the first time, it is also possible to donate cryptocurrencies. Users can add a bitcoin address to their account and others can copy it and paste it into a bitcoin wallet to send a payment from there. |
