Electronic textbooks will be available for pupils of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
School #185 which is located in Leninsky district will conduct an experiment. The main idea is to implement electronic textbooks in educational process. This information was provided by the Head of City Administration Oleg Kondrashev during his interview with local journalists. He also discussed the level of readiness for the upcoming educational year.

6th grade of local schools has been chosen for this experiment. It is mainly specialized in literature. Pupils will get tablets with electronic versions of textbooks in literature, biology and geography.

Principal of the school Dmitry Grishin reported that they have received 30 devices. Every tablet will give a chance for pupils to use free Internet connection. Free Wi-Fi network is available all over the school.

The main goal is to examine new innovation and determine the level of its efficiency. Electronic textbooks may be spread in all schools of Nizhny Novgorod in the nearest future.

“We do hope that children will have a clear understanding that book is the main source of knowledge. In spite of new innovative technologies, we must never refuse from traditional ways of education. Every classroom must be equipped with a blackboard and piece of chalk,” – Kondrashev noted.

Moreover the Head of City Administration added that all schools are ready to accept pupils. Repairing works are almost completed.
