China wants to conduct a manned mission to Mars for the first time in 2033. In the following years, more flights to the red planet should follow. China recently put an unmanned cart on Mars. Manned flights to the planet are scheduled in 2033, 2035, 2037, 2041 and later, said Wang Xiaojun of the Chinese Academy of launch technology (CALT) at a conference in Russia. The Chinese plan to send robots to Mars first. They're gonna find the best place to build a base. They will also have to set up systems to extract water and generate oxygen and electricity, for example. Spaceships can then make use of them. China also needs to figure out a way to bring the Spacemen back to Earth. The road to Mars is a long one. Wang expressed the hope that new technology will make it possible to fly back and forth in" a few hundred days." This month, China has also sent astronauts, who call it taikonauts, to their own space station in orbit around the Earth. The country also wants to establish a moon base and perform unmanned missions to asteroids and the planet Jupiter. |
